Cody McCain, MA, LPC

Experience and education

Cody McCain is a Licensed Professional Counselor with 19 years in practice. He earned his master’s degree in clinical and counseling psychology from Southern Methodist University in 2007 and has training in both therapy and assessment. Most of his career has been spent in private practice with individuals and families.

A CBT-first approach

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy provides the foundation: understanding how thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and situations interact, then changing the pieces that keep a problem going. Depending on the client, Cody may also use motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, rational emotive behavior therapy, and family-systems concepts.

What collaboration means here: You help define the goals, understand why a strategy is being used, and give feedback about what is or is not working.
