Depression is more than feeling sad
It can look like numbness, irritability, isolation, disrupted sleep, loss of interest, self-criticism, or difficulty beginning ordinary tasks. When activity drops, opportunities for connection and accomplishment drop too, which can deepen the depression.
What we may work on
- Rebuilding activity and routine in manageable steps
- Responding differently to hopeless or self-critical thinking
- Solving practical barriers instead of relying on willpower alone
- Restoring connection, meaning, and rewarding experiences
- Creating a plan for warning signs and relapse prevention
